William Baker was a poor child who while at Coney Island, was amazed by the sculptures and encouraged to try to create them. He also was bullied but soon learned to fight back against them. This made him take up the name Flint and he became a robber. This caused him to be chased and he fled to a nuclear testing facility where his molecules were transformed into a sand-like substance.
